Udo’s Oil has been a familiar name in natural-food stores for years. The traditional Udo’s Oil Omega 3•6•9 Blend is a blend of plant oils—not fish oil and not the same product as the separate DHA-enriched version. Knowing the difference helps you choose for a specific purpose.

What is in the original blend?
Flora lists flax, sunflower, sesame, coconut, evening primrose, rice bran, and oat bran oils, along with soy lecithin and mixed tocopherols. Formulas and labels can change, so always check the bottle in your hand, especially for allergens such as sesame and soy.
What nutritional benefit does it offer?
The original blend supplies plant-derived fats, including the essential omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and omega-6 linoleic acid. Essential means the body needs a dietary source. These fats contribute to normal body functions; getting them from a suitable food or oil is a nutritional choice rather than a treatment for a disease.
ALA is different from EPA and DHA
The body can convert some ALA into the longer-chain omega-3s EPA and DHA, but conversion is limited. Do not assume an ALA-rich blend supplies the same amounts or effects as an EPA/DHA product. A person specifically seeking DHA may need to compare the DHA-enriched formula or an algal-oil option with a clinician or dietitian.
An oil's advertised ratio is also not a personalized dietary requirement. Most diets already provide omega-6, and the overall eating pattern matters more than collecting every omega number on a label.
Use it as a finishing oil
Try a small labeled serving whisked into a lemon dressing, stirred into a cool dip, or drizzled over food after cooking. Treat this delicate blend as a finishing oil rather than a frying oil. Keep it refrigerated and follow the manufacturer's freshness and storage directions.
Plan a swap, not an automatic addition
Oil is concentrated food energy. Consider replacing another source of fat instead of simply adding extra oil to every meal. Compare the serving on the label with how much you actually pour. Nuts, seeds, and other foods can also contribute useful fats to a varied diet.
Before buying
Check the exact formula, allergens, storage conditions, and expiration date. Ask your health care provider about supplements if you take medication or have a specific medical goal. No oil needs to carry the entire job of supporting your heart, skin, or overall health.
